Musictography

I have two artistic passions in my life: photography and classical music.  It has long been my dream to mesh these two passions into one celebration of art.  Musictography is an expression of that dream, transformed into a visual language.  This blending of art forms is how I understand music and photography as one.  Each piece integrates a photographic image with a musical composition transposed into color.  Let the emerging symbolism and patterns engage and captivate you.  I invite you to listen to the music inspired by these pieces and immerse yourself in a world of Musictography.
The Process
To create Musictography, I first create a grid with all the notes of a musical piece.  The smallest note value equals one square.  I transpose each note of the piece into color, based on my feelings of synesthesia, and then hand paint the "notes" onto a black and white photograph within the boundaries of the grid.
Each Musictography piece is hand painted with liquid watercolors.  This is to emulate the experience of a live performance.  Each piece is entirely unique in that the brushstrokes, ex
act colors, and blending are never exactly the same.  Just as musicians shape their sound and occasionally make mistakes, so do I as the painter.  A wrong note is played, vibrato is added, or the tuning can go a little flat; the wrong color is painted, the colors blend with one another, or the brushstroke can get a little messy.
I offer commissioned Musictography pieces!
If there is  piece of music you love - I will paint it on a photo of mine.
